About Me

Hello, my name is Skylar McDaniel and I am the head coach at Bear river Endurance. I hold a master's degree in biology, and became enamored with endurance sport during my years as an undergraduate student. I became fascinated with human physiology, and quickly started applying what I knew to running and cycling. My curiosity started out by wondering, as many do, how far can I go? The adventure aspect of the sport was intriguing, and the satisfaction of being outside all day was unparalleled. After a handful of 100 mile bike rides, and a few triathlons, I decided to sign up for a 50 mile ultramarathon on a whim in 2020. I finished, but things went terribly wrong in that first event finishing in 14:57 three spots away from last place. Since then, I’ve earned multiple 50-mile finishes, a podium spot at a competitive local ultra, and PRs from 5K to 50 miles. Now, I’m obsessed with the art and science of ultramarathon training, it's an attempt to perfect the un-perfectible and that is what fascinates me. There’s no perfect formula, but the process itself is what makes this sport so rewarding, so join me!
